Spaces & sidebar
A sidebar that is yours
Reorder, hide and group apps. Keep several named layouts and switch between them, each with its own theme.
Your sidebar is a space: a named layout of which apps show, in what order, grouped how you like. Keep a Selling space with Records, Inbox and Sequences, and an Ops space with Finance, Tickets and Reports. Switch with one click, and the whole sidebar changes with you.
What a space holds
- Apps
- Which of the thirty-odd apps show in the grid, and in what order. Drag to reorder.
- Pinned tabs
- A person, a company, a deal or a doc you keep coming back to, pinned under the grid.
- Folders
- Related tabs grouped under a name. Key deals. This quarter. Onboarding.
- A theme
- Each space can carry its own colour, so switching spaces switches the whole look.
Folders and pinned tabs
Pin a record and it lives in the sidebar with its avatar. Group pins into a folder and collapse it when you are done with that deal. A pin opens the record exactly where you left it.
Hiding what you do not use
Hide anything. It leaves the grid and stays reachable from search, so nothing is lost, only quiet. A team that never issues invoices hides Finance and sees a sidebar built for selling.
Themes per space
Appearance sets light or dark and the tint of the chrome. A space can override it, so your Ops space is one colour and your Selling space another, and you know where you are before you read a word.
Ask the assistant
The assistant manages spaces too. Hide the Jobs app. Make me a minimal space with just Inbox and People. Give my selling space a dark green theme.

Getting around
The sidebar, the command palette, list pages, and how a detail page works.
Every app lives in the left sidebar. The order, the grouping and what shows at all are yours to change. Home is the daily read you start on. Overview is the widget dashboard. Everything else is a list page or a record page, and they all work the same way.
Search
One box for records, pages, settings, the help library and the places you were. Open it from anywhere with ⌘/.
Type a name and get the person. Type a feature and get the page. Type a setting and land on the exact tab, not the settings home. Type how to connect gmail and get the guide.
Appearance
Light, dark, and the chrome tint, noise and strength. Per space if you want it.
Light or dark, and then how the chrome around the page is painted: its tint, how strong, and whether it carries grain. The page itself stays white or black. Only the frame changes.
Questions
Can a space be shared with the team?+
Spaces are personal. Every member arranges their own sidebar. Permissions decide what an app can show, not the space.
What happens to a hidden app with new activity?+
It keeps working. Workflows fire, tickets arrive, reports compute. Hiding changes the sidebar, not the workspace.
Is there a limit on spaces?+
No. Most people settle on two or three.
Can I hide apps I never use?+
Yes. Hide them from the sidebar in Spaces. They stay reachable from search and can come back any time.
Does the layout follow me to another computer?+
Spaces, column layouts and saved views are stored with your account, so a new laptop opens the way you left the old one.
Does it search inside documents?+
Docs by content, emails by content, transcripts by content. Contracts by title and people.
Why does a page sometimes come first?+
When the query matches a page or setting strongly and no record matches by name, the page wins. Type a name and the person wins.
Does dark mode apply to shared pages?+
Signing pages, booking pages and shared plans follow the viewer’s system, with your brand colour on them.
Where is the theme picker?+
Search for dark mode or appearance from the command palette, or open it from the bottom of the sidebar.
Try spaces & sidebar on your own data
Connect your email, then open a person. Most of the product shows up on that one page once the mail is in.
